A Little More Summer's End

Wow, I can't believe it is already September - the tomatoes are blooming, peppers on, and zucchini! I did get 2 (count 'em) of the white "ghost" eggplants I planted.... not quite a dream crop there, but the season brought in a far better crop than we got last year. My yellow pear tomatoes are minimal, but they actually were added as an afterthought and I planted them in a shady spot. I know more sun would have made a huge difference. I tried hot peppers in my front planter and that was a mistake - I'll need to move them back to their happy place. The cukes have been nearly non-existant, but again, the planting decision I made was flawed and if it wasn't for my sweet old Daddy, they would be totally covered over by weeds. He did some good hoe-ing and I don't mean the "fun" kind. Anyway that's my produce comments for 2009. Learned some lessons - I find every year (as with everything I guess) I learn a bit more.

This is where Preston enjoys the slide the most. It's really too small for him anymore but Cady and Ian and Viv still really enjoy it. Lots of pictures of them on this thing.
Here are the main tomato bushes.

A golden zucchini just waiting to be picked..... Does anyone out there know what the white film is on the leaves? Is that normal? I seem to get it every year, it doesn't affect the zucchini but I don't know what it is.
On last horticultural thing... these are Jayme's anniversay flowers from Carey - they truly were the most gorgeous shade of pink I have seen. As you can tell, I took pictures to enjoy them for a long time! They make me happy every time I see them... Have a fun weekend, all!

Summer's End - Lazy Labor Day weekend

Mom & Dad came over - to celebrate Labor Day. ....Party on Old Folks!
This is the debonair look...Not.
The newlyweds. They will be our neighbors soon. Martha was nervous.

I thought the T-shirt was pretty clever- quite cynical for a 16 (almost 17) year old.
Alex is an incredibly thoughtful and sweet young man (sorry Alex but you are) - I think if
he wants to, he'll be a wonderful spouse someday to some lucky someone.
Adam's T-shirt: very cool.

Preston experienced his very first beesting! It was a wasp living next to the garbage cans (those darn things) so fortunately it only hurt bad for a minute. No extra allergic reaction. As you can see if puffed a bit but later, you could only see a little bump. More trauma than drama.

Preston and Papa, sorting out legos...Fun!

Mike was in town, so he and the boys came over Sunday for dinner. Not sure why but Dad and Adam were making "whiney faces". They look goofy don't they?

The ice cream truck came by and Preston had some ice cream treats... we thought he looked like a circus clown.

If anyone wants to Roast Grandpa - we'll do it at dinner. Call me or my neighbor if you have questions! Sept birthdays abound. Yeehaw.

Fun Times Had By All

I went to my friend, Craig's surprise party - this card cracked me up. The message inside was "Want to do some Antacid?" Anyway, just had to share. Got to visit with old friends and had a really good time. It's weird my friends are this old. Hmmm.
Craig in the birthday glory...

Here is a typical picture of Preston these days.... He is a fish.

Here he is, ready to go on a hike with Yaya and Papa....riiight. He instead, chose to ...you guessed it: go swimming.
Went to the furniture store. Cute pony.

The "Look"

This picture makes me laugh out loud. (Really loud- Martha laughs too) For whatever reason this reminds me of Song and her little ones. It also reminds me of my Mother. I have seen this face when I was irritating my own Mom and I'm sure I made this face (often) to Song.
It is the ultimate Mother Face - irritation, resignation, patience.... But it is hilarious. It probably shouldn't make me laugh, but it really does.
Note: this picture was sent via email. I don't know who took it, or if it is real. JH

Still catching up....

Cady really seems to love animals and Z is no exception. Z and Cady were communing together.
Watching the world go by.....

Here are some cute kids hanging out with fries and chicken (favorite meal)
Will and his G-ma - with his storm trooper guy and missing teeth......

Mr Smiley - he was happy to play and have crackers with the kids.
Jayme giving dog feeding/petting instructions to the little girls. They love Z (as I have
said before) and really got a charge out of feeding her. It was fun to watch them giggle and
practice. Z is such a tender little animal.
Cady (and Bunny's) turn to learn.

Grandpa with the captain helmet on - playing outside with Preston and Evan.
Preston is the jailer - Evan is the criminal.... I thought it was hilarious.
Amy claims Preston plays this game with her, too.
Being locked into the "cell"
Jailer Preston, giving ultimatums on the prisoner's release.....
Anyway, those are some more pics that I thought were fun. Happy Monday.

Ring-bearer and FlowerGirl -- Cutest Ever

I have sucked at Blogging this summer, and my battery died (and I can't believe my
spare was un-charged too!) Anyway these were the extent of my picture taking at the
wedding. But they are darling pics I have to say. The Ring Bearer and The FlowerGirl.
CUTE CUTE CUTE!
In the garage when first arrived....
Out at the Pool area with the large lantern prop... very artsy, Jayme.
"Rockin' Out" - Preston wanted to climb them - so did Viv. The dress didn't hold up too well
but it was very cute for a little while.
Listening carefully to the ceremony... I promise I'll post more later.....
but wanted to share this cute little duo. Ciao!
