Farm Day at the Dancing Moose!

Howdy Pod'ner! Preston had "Farm Day" at his school on Thursday. Jayme (good mother that she is) volunteered her time and went there to help the teachers. Apparently there was milking of a faux-cow and some barn stomping and art work. Sounds very country-like.
My duty in this was to take Preston to the thrift store for a cowboy shirt. When I picked him up (on Weds) he informed me that farmers were stupid and he just wanted to go home - no sissy famrer shirt for him!!! I talked to him about the excitement of farming and we discussed cowboys- the word cowboy evoked such a turn of attitude that I got quite a kick out of the boy. With the magical word "cowboy" all sorts of questions sprung. My favorite being: If I'm a cowboy can I be part a STAMPEDE??? Needless to say, with the focus on the cowhand version of farming, and the thrill of being in the middle of a stampede, Preston picked his own cowboy shirt. This was his choice. He also choose the cool black cowboy hat. See what a handsome cow'dude he makes? Yippee Ki Yi Yay!

Hearts and Soles.....

I had a fun trip to LV to see the small ones and their mother. We had a pretty good time. Song painted her bedroom a beautiful chocolate brown - hopefully she will post some pics once she finishes her re-do. The kids had their Valentine's parties and Larry and Diane came to visit. It was fun to see them too and the kids were in Grandparent delight, with 3 of us in full attendance!
Weather was great too which was lovely. Here are some highlights ~

I like this picture. I asked Cady to show me her toes....
Cady - she is indeed the great -grand daughter of Nina Lou ..... this girl LOVES shoes, flip flops, heels, any footwear and she is all over it. Song and I took her and Ian to Target to look for a little valentine present for the kids - we tried on some pink sandals with sparkly jewel tops - just to see if they fit. When Song tried to take it off, she shrieked and carried on so we just put them both on and left it at that. We got flip flops for the other kids, (all of which Cady modeled for us during the weekend) but I tell you - She is a Shoe NUT.
This boy loves to play and he loves to eat. And he loves to be naked. You know that sounds pretty good to me, too. I am unable to post the naked pictures but he sure is a cute one. Song had to remind him several times that he had to wear clothes... too funny. He also had a lot of fun ramming Gma"....I swear I'm bruised but he enjoyed it so much I didn't stop him. He did, eventually goet tired, I was grateful! He really had lots of his special big hugs too. I get a daily "word of the day" in my email box at work - Today my word of the day today was "Vivify": to make lively. I thought that was so appropriate! Viv does tend to make things lively - She loves to be in the middle of the action - and in the middle of the table! She looks very cute -
Ok, so we went to In and Out Burger and got the kids fries and some chocolate ice cream. I always maintain that if food is really yummy it ends up in the hair - as you can see Cady enjoyed her chocolate ice cream to the max. Reminded me of "Something about Mary" - only rated for children.
Crazy brothers.... loved making faces and entertaining me.

Another shot of the lovely shoes...
Viv's "Hello Kitty" shoes - we were going for the shine with the girls footwear. (Cady had a hard time keeping these on her feet, but she tried)

Valentine pillows - Ian was looking thru Target toys for items of destruction and "guys" etc. He was dragging the light pink pillow around the boy toy department. All snuggled up to the pillow and looking for guns, swords and tanks. Song and I thought this was quite hilarious, so I got one for each. It's always good to be in touch with your softer side!
My handsome Will - he was giving a talk in Church and he looked so big. Song said he did a great job. He is very talented and likes to be in front of a crowd.

Viv outside hanging out.

Ian, inside on one of the pillows.... posing. Cute and More Cute!

Passing along news.....

Have spent a couple of days with my high school friend, Fred - sadly his father passed away (his mother passed earlier in the year) so he has been boxing up things at his folks (now his) house. I went over and took some pictures of some items for him but this beauty was in part of the kitchen wares - A presto egg cooker in 1960's blue - ready to steam your eggs into readiness !
For some reason we got a big kick out of this (maybe it was the wine?) but I had to share.....

Fred... entertaining and enlightening. We can gab gab gab. And we usually do.
Preston is working on his pirate ship....Ahoy Maties!

This is the "skully Roger" (Jayme and I get a huge charge out of this naming of the Jolly Roger)
Preston's very own design. Super Nice!

Rambling again.....

Here are some pics of Preston for all his fans out there - He is just being silly after tub time.
Preston was hit in the cheek by a run-away swing at the park -- this is at ToysRUs, picking out Ian's birthday present...
Saturday at Chili's - meeting Mike and the boys, for lunch. The cheek is almost better.

Good buddies - just screwing around as usual - Nothing but a good time here.
Adam - forced to sit by the old people, he is a very good sport.

Super Hero??? - I had plans to meet my old friend Jennifer for coffee and had a little time to kill after lunch so I took a drive around my old neighborhood and some places I loved in my youth.

Grandma's house on Oakwood. It still looks really good. I love that neighborhood so much.

2381 .... the people who live there are apparently very minimalist. The street looked so small and the road needs repair. I'm always surprised when I drive up Delia Drive... it was a giant street with huge homes in my memory. As an adult looking at it now, it seems not the same street but I can drive by each home and there is a memory associated with it.... an interesting exercise for me from time to time....
My friend Jennifer at Geppetto's in Holladay (lots of memories there too!)

It was a fun Saturday - we had lots to catch up on.....
